Thank you for your interest in volunteering with MN ACE Camp. Offering your time and skills is the most valuable contribution you can make to the success of our organization. 

Whether you are a returning volunteer or considering joining us for the first time, your commitment to volunteering makes MN ACE Camp truly special.

We are growing and will publish open positions below as they become available.  As always, we’re looking for enthusiastic individuals like yourself to lend a hand during camp, contribute to committee projects, and support in other capacities. 

The volunteer needs of MN ACE Camp grow and change over time. Our Volunteer Committee thoughtfully evaluates both our evolving needs and the skills and abilities of our volunteers. If a match arises, we will be sure to reach out.

  • 10 hours and ~1 meeting per month
    Must be 20 years+ and pass a background check.


    Our current BoD consists of Pilots, Air Traffic Controllers, FAA Managers, Creatives, Students, Parents, and Educators. The BoD is responsible for all the decision-making, camp planning, and oversight of its volunteers to ensure that the camp’s vision is being adhered to. As a volunteer BoD Member, your goal is to shape the aviation industry through the students that pass through our camp. You must be able to set aside your own personal prejudices and political agenda. Interested in getting more involved in Union work for your airline? Becoming a BoD member is a good gateway to learn Roberts Rules, voice concerns with an influential audience, and make a few friends for your future airline applications.

  • 10 hours and ~1 meeting per month
    Must be 18 years+ and pass a background check.

    We have several different Committees you can help us grow.

    Planning, Outreach, Fundraising, & Scholarship, Selection

    Committees have a wide variety of different projects, including camp planning, school outreach visits, and various aviation media inquiry projects.

  • 24 hours for 1 week of camp
    Must be 20 years+ and pass a background check.

    Plan, lead and implement the camp program our directors have put together. Provide high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for camp participants. Supervise students campers and ensure their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being. Additional skills include staying awake, being able to consume an obscene amount of coffee, and pitching in whenever possible.

  • Availability varies for 1 week of camp.
    Must be 20 years+ and pass a background check.

    Support Staff Volunteers are lifesavers at camp. As a Support Staff Member, you help us during the week whenever you can. You are not a camp counselor, but assist the camp during check-in, run errands, and provide manual labor and transportation at various times throughout the week.

  • Position Overview: The Fundraising Committee Vice Chairperson supports the committee's mission to secure funding for MN ACE Camp through grant writing, donor relations, and event coordination. This leadership role offers opportunities to develop valuable skills while making a meaningful impact on our organization's sustainability.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Annual Committee Projects:

    • Grant writing (2-4 applications per year)

    • Creating the annual report

    • Managing the invite list for the Board of Directors Social

    • Presenting quarterly updates to the Board of Directors

    • Maintaining donor and donations database

    • Cultivating and maintaining donor relationships

    Vice Chairperson Duties:

    • Assist the Chairperson with all committee activities

    • Act as Chairperson when needed during absences

    • Help develop and execute the annual committee plan and projects

    • Coordinate projects and initiatives across the committee

    • Recruit and train committee volunteers

    • Identify new funding sources and opportunities

    Skills You'll Develop:

    • Communication: Effectively deliver MN ACE Camp's mission and vision to donors

    • Finance: Apply organizational and personal finance skills in real-world scenarios

    • Networking: Build lasting relationships with organizations and individuals who support our cause

    • Creativity: Enhance grant applications, social events, and publications

    Time Commitment:

    • January - August (Slow Season): 3 hours per month minimum

      • Send and track donor thank-you communications

      • Submit one grant application

      • Additional 3-5 hours monthly during onboarding and training (flexible scheduling)

    • September - December (Busy Season): 5-8 hours per month

      • Submit multiple grant applications

      • Coordinate Board of Directors Social invitee list

      • Create and publish the annual report

      • Prepare for Board of Directors Annual Meeting and develop next year's plan

      • Additional 3-5 hours monthly during training (less flexible scheduling)

  • Position Overview: The Planning Committee Vice Chairperson works closely with the Chairperson to coordinate all planning activities for MN ACE Camp. This role serves as excellent preparation for future committee leadership, providing hands-on experience in event coordination, vendor relations, and volunteer management.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist the Planning Chairperson with all assigned duties

    • Complete delegated tasks within designated timeframes

    • Guide and support volunteers on their assigned projects

    • Serve as secondary point of contact for committee operations

    • Help maintain relationships with vendors and volunteers

    Required Qualifications:

    • Must have volunteered at least one week-long MN ACE Camp Summer Camp

    • Proficiency with Google Drive and its applications

    • Growth mindset with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

    • Comfort with vendor communication via email and phone calls

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Participation in 2-3 week-long MN ACE Camp Summer Camps

    Time Commitment:

    • Peak months (November, January, April-June): 10-15 hours per month

    • Regular months: 5-10 hours per month

    • July-September: Minimal commitment (considered free time except for post-camp debriefing)

    • Attendance at all Planning Committee meetings (scheduled to accommodate your availability)

    Peak Workload Periods:

    • November: Planning Annual Board of Directors Meeting and Social

    • January: Executing Annual Board Meeting and Social; beginning camp planning

    • April-May: Finalizing camp schedule and completing pre-camp projects like volunteer training

    • June: Camp execution support and coordination with camp directors

    Special Projects:

    • Planning Annual Board of Directors Meeting and Social

    • Conducting virtual volunteer training sessions

    • Updating camp evaluations for the current year

    • Researching new additions to camp programming

  • Position Overview: A Planning Committee Volunteer Delegate serves as a vital liaison between MN ACE Camp and our vendor partners. This role focuses on building and maintaining the important relationships that enable us to deliver exceptional experiences for our students year after year.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate with vendors on behalf of the Planning Committee

    • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned vendors

    • Complete delegated tasks within designated timeframes

    • Assist in maintaining facilitator relationships

    • Support planning and execution of special committee projects

    Required Qualifications: Must have volunteered in at least one of the following:

    • Week-long MN ACE Camp Summer Camp

    • MN ACE Camp outreach event

    • MN ACE Camp Days event

    Additional requirements:

  • Position Overview: The Social Media Manager develops and maintains MN ACE Camp's Instagram account by creating engaging content that showcases our mission and connects with our community. This role offers creative freedom while while maintaining relationships with students and vendors.

    Time Commitment: Minimum 2 posts per week year-round

    This is a year-round commitment with consistent posting requirements and additional campaign work during key periods:

    • Year-round baseline: Minimum 2 posts per week throughout the year

    • Peak months (February-April, June, September-November): Increased content creation during campaign periods

    • Camp Promotion Campaign (February 1 - May 1): Intensive recruitment and awareness content to promote upcoming camp sessions

    • Camp Season (June): Real-time stories and posts capturing camp activities and participant experiences

    • Elevate Award Campaign (September 1 - December 3): Enhanced content creation leading up to #GivingTuesday with focused fundraising messaging

    Key Responsibilities:

    Content Strategy & Creation:

    • Define key audience segments for targeted messaging

    • Develop, create, and manage social media campaigns

    • Create and schedule regular content posts

    • Engage with followers through comments and direct messaging

    • Ensure all content aligns with organizational mission and guidelines

    Professional Development & Leadership:

    • Stay current with social media trends and best practices

    • Recruit and train additional social media team members

    • Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to team members

    Skills You'll Develop:

    • Campaign Planning & Execution: Design and implement comprehensive social media campaigns from concept to completion

    • Content Scheduling & Automation Tools: Master social media management platforms for efficient content distribution

    • Graphic Design & Visual Content Creation: Develop proficiency in Canva and visual storytelling techniques

    • Event Promotion & Community Building: Create engaging content that drives participation and fosters online community connections

    Required Qualifications:

    • Proficiency with Instagram and familiarity with Instagram Ads, and Canva

    • Strong written communication and organizational skills

    • Commitment to maintaining professionalism and respectful behavior in all online interactions

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous experience managing social media

    • Knowledge of aviation or STEM outreach programs

  • Position Overview: The Camp Photographer is incredibly important as it helps us showcase our mission to the world. Photography creates lasting memories for participants and families while helping us recruit future volunteers by sharing all the fun that happens at MN ACE Camp. If you have the skill set, there's no better place to give back and make a meaningful impact through your talents.

    Availability Required: Full-time during camp Search Period: Beginning March 2025 Training: Begins February 2026

    Key Responsibilities:

    Photography & Documentation:

    • Capture engaging, high-quality photographs during MN ACE Camp using provided shoot list guidance

    • Ensure images reflect the mission, values, and spirit of MN ACE Camp

    • Maintain professional standards for composition and lighting throughout all events

    Photo Management & Organization:

    • Organize all photographs systematically and upload to designated Google Drive

    • Apply consistent labeling format for proper photographer attribution (e.g., Katrina_Atwell_539A3282_mnacecamp_2024)

    • Maintain organized file structure for easy accessibility and retrieval

    • Ensure efficient workflow for post-event photo processing

    Creative Projects:

    • Present graduation slideshows during camp using provided templates

    • Collaborate with organizers to incorporate updates and special requests

    Special Projects:

    • Send personalized thank-you messages to event vendors

    • Include relevant photographs in vendor appreciation communications

    • Strengthen partnerships through thoughtful visual engagement

    Skills You'll Develop:

    • Visual Storytelling: Build your portfolio and capture the joy that parents will treasure and we will proudly share with our community

    • Project Management: Coordinate multiple deliverables, manage timelines, and organize complex photo workflows

    • Vendor Relations: Build professional relationships and communication skills through appreciation outreach

    Required Qualifications:

    • Must own a digital camera

    • Experience with digital photography

    • Proficiency in photo organization using Google Drive or similar platforms

    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured labeling systems

    • Prior experience in event photography

    • Familiarity with photo editing software (Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, or Canva)

    • Experience creating slideshows or visual presentations

    • Full availability during MN ACE Camp sessions

    • Peak months (May-June): Increased workload during pre-camp preparation and camp execution
