Whether you are a returning volunteer or considering joining us for the first time, your commitment to volunteering makes MN ACE Camp truly special.
We are growing and will publish open positions below as they become available. As always, we’re looking for enthusiastic individuals like yourself to lend a hand during camp, contribute to committee projects, and support in other capacities.
The volunteer needs of MN ACE Camp grow and change over time. Our Volunteer Committee thoughtfully evaluates both our evolving needs and the skills and abilities of our volunteers. If a match arises, we will be sure to reach out.

Committee Role Descriptions

10 hours and ~1 meeting per month
Must be 20 years+ and pass a background check.
Our current BoD consists of Pilots, Air Traffic Controllers, FAA Managers, Creatives, Students, Parents, and Educators. The BoD is responsible for all the decision-making, camp planning, and oversight of its volunteers to ensure that the camp’s vision is being adhered to. As a volunteer BoD Member, your goal is to shape the aviation industry through the students that pass through our camp. You must be able to set aside your own personal prejudices and political agenda. Interested in getting more involved in Union work for your airline? Becoming a BoD member is a good gateway to learn Roberts Rules, voice concerns with an influential audience, and make a few friends for your future airline applications. -

Committees have a wide variety of different projects, including camp planning, school outreach visits, and various aviation media inquiry projects.

Plan, lead and implement the camp program our directors have put together. Supervise students and ensure their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being. Additional skills include staying awake, being able to consume an obscene amount of coffee, and pitching in whenever possible. -

Support Staff are lifesavers at camp. You help us during the week whenever you can. You are not a camp counselor, but assist the camp directors during check-in, run errands, and provide manual labor and transportation at various times throughout the week.

Camp Photographers help us showcase our mission to the world. You’ll capture high-quality images of the fun and spirit of camp, providing lasting memories for our students and families. Your main tasks include following a shoot list, systematically organizing files in Google Drive, and putting together a graduation slideshow to celebrate the week’s best moments.

Food Coordinators are the bread and butter of camp energy! Your main goal is to manage the daily food coordination sheet and ensure all meals are delivered to the appropriate location to keep the camp program running smoothly. You play a vital role in student safety by overseeing food sensitivities and allergies, ensuring students and staff are well-fed and taken care of.

Position Overview : The Chairperson of the Board of Directors provides leadership and strategic direction for Minnesota ACE Camp while helping ensure the organization fulfills its mission of inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals. As Chair, you will work alongside a passionate team of volunteers to guide board discussions, oversee organizational operations, and ensure Board decisions are carried out effectively. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leadership, collaboration, and helping a nonprofit organization grow and succeed.
Time Commitment: 15–20 hours per month, Year round commitment
Includes attendance at monthly Board of Directors meetings and occasional committee meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
Board Leadership
Preside over Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings
Maintain meeting order and professionalism using Robert's Rules of Order
Cast the deciding vote when the Board is equally divided
Serve as Chair of the Executive Committee
Organizational Leadership
Ensure Board resolutions and strategic initiatives are implemented
Oversee the day to day business of the organization on behalf of the Board
Ensure committee work aligns with Minnesota ACE Camp's strategic plan
Appoint interim committee chairpersons when vacancies occur
Governance & Administration
Sign corporate documents alongside another authorized officer when required
Certify Board proceedings and official records
Serve as a voting ex-officio member of all committees
Perform the duties of other elected officers when necessary
Special Projects:
Oversee the annual Board Leadership Awards
Assist with planning and preparation for the Annual Meeting
Support long term organizational planning and leadership development

Position Overview: The Secretary is one of four Principal Officers of Minnesota ACE Camp and serves as the organization's primary custodian of records and institutional knowledge. In this role, you'll help ensure the organization operates efficiently by maintaining official records, documenting Board actions, coordinating meeting notices, and supporting legal and governance requirements. Your attention to detail will help preserve the history of the organization while providing the Board with the information it needs to make informed decisions.
Time Commitment: 15–20 hours per month, Year round commitment
Includes attendance at monthly Board of Directors meetings and Executive Committee meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
Board Administration
Record and maintain minutes for Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings
Prepare and distribute meeting notices as required by the Bylaws
Maintain official Board records, correspondence, and organizational documents
Preserve the organization's institutional knowledge through accurate recordkeeping
Governance & Compliance
Assist with filing documents required by federal or state law in collaboration with legal counsel
Help ensure the organization remains compliant with governing documents and legal requirements
Serve as an authorized signatory on corporate financial accounts
Support the Board and Chairperson with administrative and governance responsibilities
Organization & Records Management
Organize and maintain files within the organization's Google Drive
Develop and maintain consistent document organization and naming standards
Purchase and maintain office supplies as needed
Assist with additional administrative projects assigned by the Board

This role is an opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping guide an organization dedicated to inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals. Board Members serve a two year term and may serve up to three consecutive terms.
Time Commitment: 15–20 hours per month, Year round commitment
Includes attendance at quarterly Board of Directors meetings, committee participation, and the Annual Meeting.

In this role, you'll build relationships with donors, pursue grants and sponsorships, and help create opportunities that allow more students to explore careers in aviation. If you enjoy strategic planning, relationship building, and making a lasting impact, this leadership role offers an opportunity to help shape the future of Minnesota ACE Camp.

Includes attendance at quarterly Board of Directors meetings and collaboration with committee members throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy
Develop and oversee the committee's Annual Fundraising Plan in support of the organization's strategic goals
Identify new fundraising opportunities and develop long term donor engagement strategies
Monitor fundraising progress and recommend improvements throughout the year
Donor & Sponsor Relations
Build and maintain relationships with individual donors, businesses, foundations, and community partners
Solicit donations and sponsorships to support Minnesota ACE Camp programs
Pursue government and private grant opportunities
Fundraising Administration
Maintain an organized database of donors, sponsorships, grants, and fundraising activities
Track contributions, thank you letters, charitable receipts, and donor communications
Maintain the Fundraising Engagement Plan within the organization's Google Drive
Collaboration
Work closely with the Outreach Committee to distribute the Annual Report
Coordinate with Camp Directors to ensure scholarship recipients complete donor thank you messages
Provide updates and recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding fundraising initiatives
Required Qualifications:

Position Overview: A Planning Committee Delegate serves as a vital liaison between Minnesota ACE Camp and our external vendors. In this role, you will be assigned specific vendors to manage, schedule, and communicate with; by nurturing these relationships, you ensure we deliver an exceptional program for our students year after year.
Key Responsibilities:
Email and coordinate with vendors on behalf of the Planning Committee
Serve as primary point of contact for assigned vendors
Complete delegated tasks within designated timeframes
Maintain facilitator relationships
Required Qualifications: Must have volunteered for at least one of the following:
Minnesota ACE Camp Summer Camp
Minnesota ACE Camp Outreach event
Minnesota ACE Camp Days event
Additional requirements:
Familiarity with Google Drive
Growth mindset with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Comfortable with communicating with vendors via email and phone calls
Time Commitment:
Peak months: 10 hours per month
Regular months: 5 hours per month

November: Assisting with Annual Board Meeting and Social planning
January-February: Assisting with the Annual Board Meeting and Annual Social execution; Camp planning begins
April-May: Finalizing camp schedule and completing volunteer training
June: Providing support during camp while coordinating with camp directors

Position Overview: The Social Media Manager develops and maintains Minnesota ACE Camp's Instagram account by creating engaging content that showcases our mission and connects with our community. This role offers creative freedom while while maintaining relationships with students and vendors.
Time commitment: Minimum 2 posts per week throughout the year
Peak months (February-April, June, September-November): Increased content creation during campaign periods
Camp Promotion Campaign (February 1 - May 1): Intensive recruitment and awareness content to promote upcoming camp sessions
Camp Season (June): Real-time stories and posts capturing camp activities and participant experiences
Elevate Award Campaign (September 1 - December 3): Enhanced content creation leading up to #GivingTuesday with focused fundraising messaging
Key Responsibilities:
Content Strategy & Creation:
Develop, create, and manage social media campaigns
Create and schedule regular content posts
Engage with followers through comments and direct messaging
Ensure all content aligns with organizational mission and guidelines
Professional Development & Leadership:
Stay current with social media trends and best practices
Recruit and train additional social media team members
Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to team members
Required Qualifications:
Familiarity with Instagram, Instagram Ads, and Canva
Strong writing and communication skills
Commitment to maintaining professionalism and respectful behavior in all online interactions
