Medication Management
Medication Management
Medication Management | We utilize a self-administration policy for students who need medication during camp. This means the student must be able to understand the dosage required and, when given the medication, be able to accurately dispense it themselves. For safety reasons, any student taking medications (prescribed or over-the-counter) must notify their Camp Directors during check-in. With the exception of Rescue Medications*, camp staff will secure student medications throughout the day until they are ready for use.
Please pay attention to the following requirements before bringing your medications to camp:
Medication must be in its original container
Medication label must show:
Medication Name
Correct Dosage
Directions for use
Your Name (only if prescribed)
When needed, the student can retrieve their medication(s) from camp staff and self-administer under supervision.
*medications that are used to treat acute symptoms or emergencies, typically for Asthma, Allergic Reactions, or Epilepsy
Medical Support | Trained Registered Nurses (RN) are on call during camp and operate under a Standing Orders document approved by a physician. Nurses will be available during check-in to answer any questions from parents or students regarding medication management.
Emergency Contact Information
Required Emergency Contacts | All students must provide two emergency contacts who are available during camp.
Contact Requirements
Emergency contacts must be adults (18 years or older)
We encourage local emergency contacts, especially for out-of-state students
Contact information must include: name, relationship to student, phone numbers, and address
Student Pickup Requirements
An adult must drop off and pick up any student under 18 years old during check-in and on the final day of camp
If a student needs to be sent home for any reason, an adult must come to retrieve the student, regardless of distance
Contact Verification | Emergency contact information will be verified during check-in. Email addresses must be accurate, as emergency contacts will receive important information regarding check-out and graduation procedures.
Medical Authorization | During check-in, emergency contacts may choose to sign an authorization for camp staff to administer over-the-counter medications. This authorization is optional, as the completed medical form provides our organization with the necessary treatment permissions for hospital visits and facilitates emergency medical care.
